Dortmund by rail

Dortmund main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) is an Intercity Express (ICE) long distance station and rates as one of the most important hubs in Germany for passenger rail transport. The station is located in the centre of the city, on the edge of the central pedestrianised shopping zone. The Westfalen Stadium is 7 stops away on the metro (Stadtbahn), for which there is an integrated station below the railway station (see City centre to stadium).

Local transport
As well as the Stadtbahn (a metro system that runs both above and below ground), the city also runs 2 tram lines and a comprehensive bus network (Public transport planner).

Mainline Services
As a major hub for ICE trains, there are direct mainline services to and from Dortmund all but one of the other World Cup venues. (German rail journey planner) These are shown on the right:
