City centre to stadium
Whether by car or public transport, the stadium is easy to get to.
As the photo above shows (click to enlarge), it is located about 5 miles out of Munich city centre, right at the intersection of the A99 motorway ring road and the A9 that runs all the way up to Berlin.
Approaching on the A99, join the A9 at this junction (Munich North), following signs for the city centre (Zentrum). Leave the A9 at the next exit (junction 73) and turn immediately into Werner Heisenberg Allee.
Approaching on the A9, exit at junction 73 and turn immediately into Werner Heisenberg Allee.
Public transport
The Allianz Arena is also well served by public transport, with Fröttmaning station just a few hundred yards away from the ground and a wide footpath leading fans over a footbridge and up the esplanade (which covers a huge underground car park) to the stadium.
Fröttmaning station
Any journey to the stadium by public transport will end at Fröttmaning station - part of the U-Bahn network, even though it’s above ground.
If you start your journey by UBahn (underground), take the U6 heading for Garching-Hochbrück and get out at Fröttmaning.
If you start on a suburban train (S-Bahn), change at Marienplatz and take the U6 underground as above.
If you start off on a number 16, 17, 18 or 27 tram, go to Sendlinger Tor and change there onto the U6 for Garching-Hochbrück, again getting out at Fröttmaning (pictured below).
If you start your journey on a number 293 bus, ride it to Studentenstadt and change there onto the U6 for Garching-Hochbrück. Get out - you guessed it - at Fröttmaning.
Alternatively, if you set off on a number 693 bus, ride this to Kieferngarten before changing onto the U6 as above.
See the Munich Transport Partnership’s journey planner if you want to plan your journey to the stadium in advance.
